Visits Mildura

Pump Restoration in Sunraysia
In June, Victoria's Heritage Council visited Mildura for the first
time as part of their annual regional visitation program.
The Heritage Council is Victoria's main decision-making body on
non-indigenous cultural heritage and is responsible for assessing
places and objects for heritage recognition and legal protection.
Two Engineering members of the council, Geoff Sutherland and Malcolm
Macdonald, were among the group of 22.
The Mildura visit provided the Heritage Council with an opportunity
to meet with the City of Mildura, local historical groups and speak
with heritage place owners. As part of their official tour, the
Council visited the Psyche Bend Pumping Station at Irymple, which
received a $5,000 Victorian Heritage Program grant for building
conservation in February. Another highlight included the Lock 9
Steam Pumping Station, which is being restored by the Sunraysia
Group of Engineers Australia.
The Sunraysia Group are seeking support to assist in the re-tubing
